Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette, who is a native of Canada, was born June 1 1974 in Ottawa. Alanis' Greek name is a feminine version of her father's name: Alan. Georgia is the name used by her mother and she shares two brothers named Chad Wade and Chad Wade. She was able to play the piano at age 6, and guitar at the age of 21. Alanis released a single in 1986, titled Fate stay with me (b-side : Find The Right Man). In her Canadian career as a dance-pop performer, she recorded two albums: Alanis (1991), and The Time Is The Time (1992). After turning 18 she left New York to Toronto, where her collaborations with songwriters and musicians didn't work out. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she decided to go with in 1994. Glen had previously worked alongside Aretha Frankin Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. They moved to LA when she was 19. The 13th of June, 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released via Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis was able to come up with the idea of writing songs that was very personal and autobiographical. JLP has sold more than 30 million copies throughout the globe, becoming the top selling female album, and also the third greatest selling album of the past. JLP came out after suffering an emotional crisis (she was contemplating not releasing an album) as well as the trip to Europe. Alanis Alanis Alanis
