Her parents were a therapist and an ice cream parlor manager, McCormack hails from a family without any direct connections to the world of entertainment. McCormack was a student at Wardlaw-Hartridge School and, following her parents' divorce in the year 1990, she enrolled to Trinity College in Hartford in Connecticut. She completed the BA program in comparative arts. The career of the actress started at a young age of 12 when she was in a stage production the Christmas musical 'Amahl and the Night Visitors'. In the theater, the actor performed throughout the years, and her roles were later transferred onto the screen. Nowadays, McCormack is recognized as one of the most versatile artistes in Hollywood. She is married to director and producer Michael Morris, she has three children.
